First Hair Cutting

Notice, I said hair cutting, not hair cut!  Where is Grandma Norma when I need her????

Now, I knew this day was coming.  Everyone always talks about how eventually kids will cut their own hair.  And I totally assumed Willow would find a pair of scissors and take them to her hair, she has always had an opinion about everything, why not her hair?  I just never though it would be Jayden who cut her hair.  He's usually such a rule follower.  But, I walked outside to find Jayden and Willow behind Royal's truck with a pair of red scissors and Jayden snipping something off the top.  And when I come up and said, "What in the world do you think you are doing?"  Jayden says, "I'm giving Willow a haircut!"  I say, "That's not okay!"  To which he says, "Well, I didn't know that"  And I ask, "Then why are you hiding while doing it??"  Jayden : "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"  That's what I thought!

Willow is now the proud owner of some crooked bangs.  I am so thankful Jayden didn't cut them down to tiny spikes.  And with her crazy hair-do today, I actually don't think they look half bad, I kinda like them, but I didn't by any means tell Jayden that.  I had to pretend I was mad at him so he would hopefully never do that again because who knows what the next time's results would be.

And when I told Willow I was going to have to take a picture of them,  Jayden comes right up behind and says, "You're taking a picture?  Don't they look good? Don't you like them?  I think they look so good!"  and Willow says, "I have such beautiful hair!"

Maybe Grandma Norma can give Jayden a few tips and he can be our official hair cutter in between Grandma Norma visits,  and I can finally give up trying!

Puddle Jumpin'

We've been having some rain storms the past few days.  And that makes for a river running down the road that is perfect for jumping in!  Also, with the rain usually comes the wind, as you will see in the pictures...

And if it's fun with boots, then it's going to be twice as fun without boots!

And you might as well see just how much of a splash some wheels will make too!

Willow's Hair

It's a miracle!  After the past 3 years of watching me coat my hair in mousse and then attempt to tame it with my diffuser, Willow asked me to do it to her hair.  And sadly, she's going to have to get used to it, she has inherited my kinda curly, kinda straight, extra frizzy, extremely snarly, out of control hair.  There's no hopping out of the shower and letting it dry.  It either has to be "helped" to be made curly, or "helped" to be made straight, or pulled back to be ignored for the day. 

Here's to hoping for a new Willow hair trend in his house!  I give it about a week before I catch her in the bathroom emptying my entire collection of bottles of mousse and gels and straightening lotions onto her head....

Dead Tooth

Jayden had a head on collision with a neighbor boy 2 days ago.  The other boy had a little bump on his head and that was all.  Jayden came home crying and when he finally let me look in his mouth, 3 of his front teeth were a little bloody up around the gums, but nothing gushing or anything, and one of his teeth looked like it already had a bit of a bruise on the gum right above it.  All 3 of these teeth were already a little wiggly anyway, but now they were really loose.  I had Jayden rinse his mouth out and gave him some tylenol and reassured him that his teeth weren't going to fall out in his sleep and that if they weren't ready to come out, they would tighten back up a bit.
Then this morning he comes out of his bedroom, smiles at me while saying Good Morning, and I cringed and said, 'Oh my gosh!'  One of his teeth was totally turning black.  Nasty!

My initial feeling was that it was no big deal.  His tooth was obviously just dying from the collision, and that it would fall out maybe a tad early (it is REALLY wiggly now), and his permanent tooth would eventually fill in the hole.  Then I googled it.  Man!, sometimes google is such a horrible idea.  I got all these stories and pictures about abscesses and infections and the baby tooth injuring his permanent tooth, enough to totally make me doubt myself.  So, I called our dentist, told them what happened, and what his tooth looked like now, and they said it was probably best we bring him in.  Turns out, my initial idea about the whole thing is probably pretty accurate.  Our dentist said because the tooth wasn't still jammed up inside his gum, that his permanent tooth will most likely be just fine.  It's just gonna be ugly for awhile before it eventually falls out.  And Royal is probably not going to be too happy about having to pay for a kind of unnecessary dentist visit, but I'm going to tell him to bill Google.  :)

Lego Creations

You can tell Jayden is ready for summer because he's building swimming pools out of legos!  :)
The swimming pool is located right next to the Ewok tree fort.

It has a diving board, water squirters, and a life guard!  Although, I'm not sure if that Ewok is swimming or drowning....

Spring Break Finale!

Well, the beginning of the week may have started out pouring down rain, but the last few days were sunny and beautiful!  Yesterday, Jayden demanded to know why the neighborhood pool wasn't open yet, it's obviously hot enough!  So, he and the neighborhood kids played with water balloons, water shooters, and he finally broke Royal and I down and we blew up the dragon pool.

Jayden is back in school today, and our schedule is getting back to normal.  (Only 40 days of school left though until Summer Vacation!!!)  And the days of putting sunscreen on before we put on our clothes for the day are starting and if we are hitting 80 degrees in March this year, we could be in for another brutal summer!  If it's going to be 90+ days over 100 again, and I am going to be so glad to be in Washington!!!  :)

Spring Break Day 4

Craft Day!  Still raining outside, and I am so sick of entertaining "bored" kids and watching movies and playing Wii games, so the kids and I made a trip to Hobby Lobby to stock up on some more craft supplies.

First, we made some melty bead projects!

Then we moved on to a far messier project.  Slime.  And I always tend to go a bit overboard on the food coloring part of it, so everybody's hands were dyed either pink or purple for the rest of the day.   :)

Then during Willow's rest time, Jayden and I did a bead project.  Both of the kids are talking about going to Washington non-stop.  Jayden wants to play with Brendan and Wyatt and Easton.  Willow wants to see baby Annabel and "hold her in my hands"  and "feed her my water".  They are constantly asking me when we are going, how many days, is it time yet?, can we leave tomorrow?  So, Jayden and I made a countdown.   I couldn't imagine having to cut out like 100 rings to put together in a chain ring, so we used beads!  We have 96 days until we blast off for Washington.  96!  I couldn't believe it was under 100!  I made a countdown chain for Willow too, so that we don't have to argue about whose turn it is to take a bead off, they both get too!
